We Talk: Americans see the country as increasingly divided

CGTN

02:00

Recently, the southern U.S. state of Texas and the federal government have been at odds over the immigration issue. Over whether to dismantle the razor wire on the border, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other Republicans frequently challenged the Biden administration over policy on illegal immigration, accusing it of inaction. The dispute over border enforcement has also triggered public concerns about a constitutional crisis in the United States. So, in the eyes of the American people, is the U.S. facing a widening political split?

Curt Donovan, a marketing professional, told CGTN that the United States faces deepening divisions in politics, economy, society and other aspects. Adam Barnes, who works in the transportation industry, believes that the powerful elites who are supposed to serve the people as public servants no longer put the interests of the people first and that is the reason behind the division of American society.
