China Eastern Airlines welcomed the fifth domestically built C919 aircraft, marking the completion of the passenger jetliner's first order.
The narrow-body jet took off on a flight from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 9:30 a.m. on March 2, and landed at the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 9:51 a.m., officially joining China Eastern's aircraft fleet. China Eastern Airlines bought five C919 passenger aircraft from Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, the manufacturer of the C919 passenger jet, on March 1, 2021. It was the first order for the large passenger aircraft. It also ordered an additional 100 C919 planes on September 28 last year, marking it the largest client of the China-developed large passenger aircraft.
