China is willing to continue its efforts to promote peace talks and mediate between Russia, Ukraine and other relevant parties to promote the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, Li Hui, special representative of the Chinese government on Eurasian affairs, said on Saturday.
Li made the remarks while meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin in Moscow.
Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, both sides agreed to follow the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and push for the continued development of bilateral relations.
It has been two years since the crisis escalated, and any conflict must ultimately be resolved through negotiation, Li said, calling for efforts for dialogue.
Galuzin agreed that the Ukraine crisis must be resolved through negotiation and appreciated China's constructive role in this regard, expressing his hope to continue to enhance communication with China.
Li began a second round of shuttle diplomacy to seek a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis on Saturday.
Besides Russia, he will visit Poland, Ukraine, Germany and France, as well as the EU headquarters in Belgium.
