Chinese track and field athlete Wen Xiaoyan, 26, has won five gold medals at two Paralympic Games, yet she said that the first time she won the world title, she was worried.
"I didn't want to be labeled [as a disabled athlete]," she told CGTN.
Wen became a national lawmaker last year when she was elected as a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress. She feels she's had more responsibilities since then and has used them to actively speak up for the disabled community on many fronts.
At this year's Two Sessions, Wen said she will make suggestions about supporting disabled entrepreneurs. She also hopes for more favorable policies for the education of disabled athletes.
