Chinese track and field athlete Wen Xiaoyan, 26, has won five gold medals at the two previous editions of the Paralympic Games, yet she said the first time she won the world title, she was worried.
"I didn't want to be labeled (as a disabled athlete)," she told CGTN.
Wen became a national lawmaker last year when she was elected as a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress. She said she felt she had more responsibilities since then and has actively spoken up for the disabled community on many fronts.
At this year's Two Sessions, Wen said she would make suggestions on supporting disabled entrepreneurs. In addition, Wen also expressed hope for more favorable policies for the education of disabled athletes. Take a look at her story.
