Chinese divers finish World Cup in Montreal with nine gold medals

Chinese divers finished the World Cup in Montreal, Canada, with nine gold, one silver and two bronze medals after four days of competitions from February 29 to March 3.

Chen Yiwen, Wang Zongyuan, Chen Yuxi and Yang Hao won the first title for China in the mixed 3- and 10-meter team event on March 1, getting 506.35 points, 68.30 above the British silver medalists and 100.65 points over the Australian Bronze medalists.

Wang and Long Daoyi continued China's dominance in the men's 3-meter synchronized final with 464.79 points. They were joined by Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan, who had the women's 10-meter synchronized title, Chen Yiwen, who won the women's 3-meter springboard event, and Yang, who secured the men's 10-meter platform gold.

Chang Yani and Lian Junjie added two bronze medals for China in the women's 3-meter springboard and the men's 10-meter platform events on March 2.

Chinese divers reaped four more titles on the final day. Chen Yiwen and Chang won the women's 3-meter synchronized springboard gold in a close contest beating the American pair of Kassidy Cook and Sarah Bacon by only 16.8 points. Lian and Yang beat Kevin Berlin Reyes and Randal Willars Valdez of Mexico in the men's 10-meter synchronized final.

Wang claimed the men's 3-meter springboard title in the contest with Mexico's Osmar Olvera Chen Yuxi defeated Quan by only 3.9 points to win the gold.

There will be another two stops in the Diving World Cup in 2024, one in Berlin, Germany, from March 21 to 24, and the Super Final in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, between April 19 and 21.
