Haiti's government declared a state of emergency and a nighttime curfew on Sunday after at least a dozen people died and several thousand inmates escaped during a gang attack on the capital city's main prison.
The government stated that the state of emergency and the 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. curfew would be effective from Sunday to Wednesday, with both measures subject to renewal.
