As spring temperatures begin to rise, large flocks of migratory birds such as red-crowned cranes, gray herons and shelducks have returned north and have been spotted feeding and foraging at the Hailiu Reservoir in Tumet Left Banner, Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In recent years, an increasing number of lakes and wetlands in Inner Mongolia have become havens for migratory birds during the migration season due to local environmental improvements.
