Germany's foreign ministry on Monday denied that Moscow summoned Berlin's ambassador to Russia following the publication of a taped German army discussion on Ukraine.
"Our ambassador went to a long-planned meeting in the Russian foreign ministry (on Monday) morning," a foreign ministry spokesman said, contradicting a report from Russian news agencies.
Russia's TASS news agency earlier reported that the country's foreign ministry summoned the German ambassador.
According to a statement released by the ministry, it demanded the ambassador clarify the content of the taped discussion, which indicates the involvement of the West, including Berlin, in the conflict around Ukraine.
