Reform and opening up have been China's major agenda for decades. In 2023, the trade volume between China and the Belt and Road Initiative partner countries rose by 2.8 percent year on year to 19.47 trillion yuan (about $2.7 trillion). Wang Huiyao, president of the Beijing-based think tank Center for China and Globalization, says China's opening up benefits both itself and the world.
