China's 2024 GDP growth target of around 5 percent is an achievable goal with improved effort, the head of the country's top economic planning body said on Wednesday.
China has the confidence, capabilities and conditions to meet the economic and social development targets for this year, Zheng Shanjie, director of the National Development and Reform Commission, told media at a press conference on the sidelines of the ongoing session of the national legislature.
The growth target is in keeping with the goals of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and is based on the growth potential and conditions of the Chinese economy, Zheng said.
The second session of the 14th National People's Congress is holding a press conference at the Media Center Hotel in Beijing on Wednesday, briefing domestic and foreign media on issues regarding development and reform, financial and budget, commerce and financial securities.
