China is seeing positive signs in exports and imports despite a challenging global trade environment, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said Wednesday.

The country has seen a boom in trade activities during the Spring Festival holiday, a traditional slack season for imports and exports, Wang told the media at a press conference on the sidelines of the ongoing session of China's top legislature.

Wang said the trade recovery that started in September 2023 is expected to continue despite a possible dip in March due to a high comparison base.

China will work with global trading partners to deepen cooperation in the production and supply chain and build an industrial and supply chain that is inclusive, resilient and sustainable, the commerce minister said.

He also said the country will promote cross-border e-commerce exports by improving customs clearance, taxation and foreign exchange policies, and accelerate the construction of supply chains and ecosystems that adapt to the development of cross-border e-commerce.

China will increase the level of trade digitization, said Wang, adding that the country will take the pilot zone for global digital trade in the Greater Bay Area, the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and foreign trade transformation and upgrade bases as carriers to upgrade the level of trade digitalization.

Wang also told the press that China will promote green trade development through supporting trade in green and low-carbon products of high quality, high technology and high added value.
