A member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) called on northeast China to blaze a new path of high-quality development and sustainable revitalization on the sidelines of the Two Sessions.

Zhang Haihua, also the vice mayor of Harbin City in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, made the remarks at the Members' Corridor held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday.

Thanks to its rich resources, strong industrial foundation and unique geographical advantages, northeast China is not only the country's breadbasket, but also an important industrial base, Zhang said.

Noting the region is also home to some of the country's most important enterprises, renowned universities and research institutes, Zhang said the region should make good use of these advantages and opportunities, strengthen its primary role, and blaze a new path of high-quality development and sustainable revitalization.

Zhang also said the ice and snow fever in Heilongjiang Province kicked off a good start of the comprehensive revitalization of the old industrial base, adding that the huge Ice-Snow World and the crowded Central Street make them really feel the strong warmth of China's economic recovery.

Given this year is the key point of the implementation of the Northeast Revitalization strategy into the third decade, Zhang believes the region will make full efforts to revitalize itself during the new journey of building a strong country and national rejuvenation, and create new achievements.
