His country suffered a wave of bombings 25 years ago and learned the hard way to preserve its sovereignty. And over the past decades, it has formed an ironclad and enduring bond with China. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Wang Guan sat down with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade to take stock of the China-Serbia relation. He also envisions the future as both countries have just signed a Free Trade Agreement fostering bilateral economic ties and with a potential broader impact in the region. President Vučić praises China for being supportive and reliable in difficult times and rejects the "debt trap" narrative peddled by some Western countries as Chinese businesses have heavily invested in Serbia. "It's not about the money, it's about governance," he says, underscoring China's ability to come up with innovative solutions. President Vučić also invites Chinese people to visit Serbia to experience the real European hospitality. He looks forward to more people-to-people exchanges between China and Serbia in the future.
