CGTN

According to a poll released by CGTN and Renmin University of China through the New Era Institute of International Communication for global respondents, as high as 83.5 percent of respondents appreciate China's independent and peaceful diplomatic approach, believing that it would help promote the formation of more fair and reasonable international order.

The survey was conducted with 31,980 respondents worldwide. Respondents came from both developed countries, such as the United States, Germany, France and Japan, and developing countries, such as Mexico, Thailand and Nigeria.

From the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and the common values of all humankind to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the three global initiatives, China has always adhered to the view of global governance of "extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits" and promotes the realization of an equitable and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.

According to the poll, 91.1 percent of respondents highly praised the rich achievements of the BRI over the past decade and believe the BRI has become a "development belt" and "road to happiness" for the benefit of the world. Meanwhile, 82.5 percent of the respondents believe the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind has provided a long-term impetus to construct a better future and points to the right path for humankind. Another 84.5 percent of respondents agreed with the Global Development Initiative's central concept, believing that development is the solution to global problems and the realization of human happiness. And 85.6 percent of the respondents believe security is a prerequisite for development and that all countries should work together to build a balanced, effective and sustainable security structure.

As two major forces in global governance, the healthy interaction between China and the U.S. is critical to the well-being of both peoples and the future of humanity and the world. Eighty-six percent of global respondents think that maintaining the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations requires more than just words to implement the consensus. Meanwhile, 91.2 percent of respondents believe China-U.S. relations should be based on mutual respect and equal treatment. Both sides should respect each other's core interests and major concerns. Another 92 percent of respondents believe China-U.S. relations are not a zero-sum game and that trying to change and contain the other side is unrealistic. Neither side's development ought to deprive the other's legitimate rights. Meanwhile, 83.2 percent of respondents urged the U.S. to objectively recognize China's strategic intentions and rationally assess China's development.

In addition, 76.2 percent of global respondents agreed that China's foreign policy has effectively protected China's national interests. Meanwhile, 64.6 percent of the respondents believe China is a responsible major country. Another 65.3 percent of respondents believe China's active participation in global governance has brought certainty and stability to the international community.

Speaking at the press conference about China's foreign policy and foreign relations on the sidelines of the second session of the 14th National People's Congress, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said, "Faced with the complex and volatile international environment, China will firmly be a force for peace, stability and progress in the world."
