Citizens of Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg can all soon enjoy a visa-free policy when they visit China for business, tourism, family visits, or transit for up to 15 days, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced on March 7.
This visa-free policy, which will be in place from March 14 to November 30, 2024, follows China's implementation of visa exemptions last year for six countries including France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia.
These measures are viewed highly beneficial for the development of inbound tourism, expecting significant boosts in accommodation, dining, shopping, entertainment, and related industries in the Chinese market.
Meanwhile, Wang Yi expressed the hope that more countries will facilitate Chinese citizens' travel by giving them similar advantages to contribute to the building of an efficient system of international tourism.
The recent announcement of China's visa-free policy has led to a boom in searches for flights to and from these countries on Trip.com – one of China's major travel booking platforms.
