Festive journeys: Global tourism rebound

30:00

UN Tourism's World Tourism Barometer showed that around 1.3 billion people traveled internationally in 2023, reaching 88% of the levels seen before the pandemic. A stronger recovery is expected in Asian markets, and global tourism is projected to fully rebound by end-2024. Notably, China saw a rise in the "visiting relatives + traveling" trend during the Spring Festival. The China Tourism Academy forecasts over 6 billion domestic trips and 6 trillion yuan in domestic tourism revenue in 2024. CGTN's Michael Wang engaged in discussion with Zoritsa Urosevic, executive director of UN Tourism, and Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group, for their perspectives on the evolving dynamics and trends shaping the tourism industry.
