Last summer, China staged a sensational comeback to claim their first Women's Basketball Asia Cup title since 2012. It was a nerve-racking final, where they narrowly edged out the five-time defending champion Japan 73-71. The excitement and jubilation from that historic victory still resonates strongly, and now China has the incredible opportunity to strive for a second consecutive Asian title, this time on home soil.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has officially confirmed that the next edition of the Women's Asia Cup will be hosted in China's southern metropolis of Shenzhen from July 13 to 20, 2025. It will mark China's fourth time hosting this prestigious basketball tournament. The previous occasions were in Shanghai in 1984, Qinhuangdao in 2005 and Wuhan in 2015.

FIBA has highlighted that Shenzhen is an ideal platform for hosting the region's top national teams and women's basketball players. The city's unique combination of technological advancement and cultural vibrancy will contribute to showcasing the talents of the rapidly evolving women's basketball scene.

"As we confirm Shenzhen as the proud host of the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2025, we celebrate the return of China to the forefront of basketball in the region," expressed FIBA Executive Director Hagop Khajirian in a statement.

"This reflects not only China's rich basketball heritage but also its unwavering commitment to advancing the women's game. We look forward to an event that will inspire generations of athletes and fans alike," he added. "With its passionate basketball community, we are looking forward to seeing Shenzhen provide an unparalleled experience for players and spectators."
