On March 5, two Philippine transport vessels and two Philippine Coast Guard vessels trespassed into the waters adjacent to Ren'ai Jiao, part of China's Nansha Qundao in the South China Sea, to send construction materials to an illegally "grounded" military vessel on the island without the permission of the Chinese side.
In fact, the Philippines' infringement at Ren'ai Jiao have long been emboldened by the support of the United States. The "justification" provided by the United States for this action was "to protect its allies and safeguard freedom of navigation."
