The Bianjing Lantern Zhang is centuries-old craftsmanship handed down through the Zhang family in Kaifeng in Henan Province. In 2008, it was listed as part of the nation's intangible cultural heritage. Seventh-generation inheritor of the craft Zhang Juntao is determined to encourage more people to carry it on, and to this end he is teaching children to make their first lanterns.
