A deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, shared his experiences contacting people in need to help improve social governance during a corridor interview, ahead of the closing meeting of the second session of the 14th NPC National Committee in Beijing on Monday.

NPC deputy Qian Haijun, also a community manager at the State Grid Zhejiang Cixi City Power Supply Company, told reporters that he has been working in the electricity industry for 33 years. He said during his over three decades in the sector, he had noticed security risks in the electrical circuits of the families of people with disabilities and the elderly, so he distributed over 500 business cards to those in need and set up a volunteer center to help them.

He also said that after spotting a lack of electrical technicians in China's remote areas, he and some of his colleagues initiated a training plan to support electrical technicians in rural areas, such as the Xizang Autonomous Region and Sichuan Province, and contribute to China's rural revitalization.
