Qatar is working to establish a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and not a short-term truce of a few days, Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said on Tuesday.

"We are not near to a Gaza ceasefire deal but remain hopeful," he said at a press conference in Doha.
