"The semiconductor and integrated circuit industries are inherently global and need collaboration, yet it's vital for China to carve out its own strength," Chu Junhao, a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences and semiconductor specialist, told CGTN reporter Zhao Chenchen in a recent interview.
Chu, who is also a Bilibili tech video creator, noted that China needs to focus on developing multi-channel integrated circuit technology, with a particular emphasis on foundational research and new device exploration. He raised the critical question: Can China make breakthroughs in areas like compute-in-memory (CIM), spintronics devices, quantum chips and photonic chips?
