International theatrical productions, such as the Spanish musical play "A Comedy of Operas" and "A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football" from Norway, are among the five plays being staged during the weeklong festival.

Nine classic award-winning films will be screened during the festival, including the Chinese comedies "Mr. Donkey" and "Goodbye Mr. Loser,”as well as Ukrainian film "Luxembourg, Luxembourg," among others.

Serving as a wider window to the Greater Bay Area, Macao is hosting the ongoing comedy festival as part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to China, which will also feature panels on the comedy industry with guests and performers from Macao, the Chinese mainland and overseas.

The event will see many renowned filmmakers gather in Macao, including Chinese director Zhang Yimou, comedy stars Shen Teng and Ma Li. The comedy duo is among the founders of the festival.
