Musk joins Trump to denounce TikTok ban as 'censorship, govt control'

00:53

The U.S. House of Representatives plans to vote on a bill on Wednesday that would give TikTok's Chinese owner ByteDance about six months to divest the short-video app used by about 170 million Americans or face a ban.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who once attempted to remove TikTok from U.S. app stores, said on March 11 that a TikTok ban could make Facebook bigger, censuring it as "an enemy of the people."

Billionaire Elon Musk on March 12 also claimed the bill could restrict access to the app, which he said amounts to "censorship and government control."
