A large number of migratory birds have been photographed in Quanwan wetlands in Qinghai Province, introducing vitality to the early spring scenery of the northwestern China.

Quanwan wetlands sit on the western rim of Qinghai Lake, the largest saltwater lake in the country. Whooper swans, geese and other waterfowl gather together, dive into water for food and frolic in the air, leisurely enjoying the pleasant spring days.

There are eight species of overwintering waterbirds in Qinghai Lake this winter, with the total number of birds up to more than 6,600, among which over 500 are whooper swans, a precious species under second-class state protection.

In April, the whooper swans are expected to fly northward.
