The China Coast Guard (CCG) carried out law enforcement patrols in the waters near Kinmen on Friday, it said in a statement.
The patrols aim to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests and safety of life and property of Chinese fishermen, including those in the Taiwan region, the statement said.
The CCG will strengthen law enforcement patrols, it added.
A mainland fishing boat was chased by Taiwan coast guards on February 14, leading to all four people on board falling into the sea with two of them perishing. Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said the incident "severely hurt feelings" of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
