The men's singles world No.1 and top seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark and China's Chen Yufei were eliminated in the quarterfinals during the All England Open Badminton Championships on Friday.
Axelsen, who was the champion in 2020 and 2022, was stunned by Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka Ginting 8-21, 21-18, 21-19 in their men's singles quarter-final.

In the women's draw, world No. 1 An Se-young of South Korea, yet to drop a game at the tournament, set up a semi-final clash with Japanese ace Akane Yamaguchi after defeating Chinese eighth seed Han Yue 21-16, 21-19.

Tokyo Olympic champion Chen was outplayed by Carolina Marin of Spain with scores of 21-17, 21-15 in another women's singles quarter-final.
"I think I'm not confident enough on court and I could not adjust my game in time," said Chen.
