This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Republic of the Congo - also known as Congo-Brazzaville. With 16 visits to China over the past six decades, President Sassou has witnessed dramatic transformations both within China and his own country. In this episode of Leaders Talk, CMG's He Yanke sat down with President Sassou in Brazzaville and learns what has kept the bilateral relationship so strong for six decades, while also hearing about President Sassou's priorities for his country and aspirations for the African continent as a whole. Disputing unfounded accusations of "neo-colonialism", he commends China-Africa cooperation for bringing developmental opportunities to 600 million Africans living across the continent without electricity. President Sassou also describes how moved he is by the significant changes brought about by China's construction of the No.1 National Highway in Congo; and he explains why he thinks China's leader Xi Jinping is a visionary that sets an example for all in the Global South.
