Spring plowing is in full swing across China.
Farmers in Langao County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, are readying terrace fields for growing seedlings as the county plans to grow rice on 15,000 mu (about 1,000 hectares) of land in 2024.
The entire county is making the best of the spring season and all preparatory work is expected to be completed by the end of April.
Over 4,700 agricultural machinery service organizations are operational in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, and local authorities are helping the farmers to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
The sowing area for grains in northeast China's Liaoning Province, also known as part of the country's "grain barn," is expected to remain stable at over 53.03 million mu (around 3.54 million hectares).
"Now 80 percent of the farm households have obtained seeds and 70 percent of the households have procured chemical fertilizers. In general, the cost of production input for grain farmers has dropped so far this year. More than 8,000 sets of agricultural machinery in the city have been inspected, repaired and can be put into sowing for spring farming," said Li Fugang, director of Tieling City Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau.
