We Talk: Global views on Japan's release of nuclear-contaminated water into sea

Global Stringer

03:27

On March 17, Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said that it had completed the fourth round of discharging Fukushima nuclear-contaminated water into the sea. About 7,800 tonnes were emitted, making the discharge over 23,300 tonnes so far.

In this video, CGTN Stringer spoke to people from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand on TEPCO's ongoing release of nuclear-contaminated water and they all expressed their concerns. One of them, Sophia from the United States, says the release of nuclear-contaminated water into the sea made her fear for the future. Darren from the UK says that he could not agree with Japan's action, which is essentially dumping toxic sewage into the ocean, and that Japan should seriously consider the opinions of neighboring countries before making the decision.
