A seminar on China's protection of ethnic minorities' rights was held on Monday in Geneva, Switzerland.

Liang Junyan, a research fellow from the China Tibetology Research Center, delivered a speech on the historical status of Xizang.

Xizang has been a part of China since ancient times, and the so-called Xizang question is a product of the imperialist invasion of China in modern times, Liang said.

Since the peaceful liberation of Xizang, together with the entire nation, Xizang has embarked on a broad path of prosperity and development, she added.

Jia Chunyang, executive director of the Center for Economic and Social Security Studies of the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, discussed China's efforts to safeguard ethnic minorities' right to education in Xizang.

Belgian Tibetologist Andre Lacroix and Swiss-Tibetan singer Dechen Shak-Dagsay attended the seminar.
