Global South Voices: Democracy, what democracy?

CGTN

29:59

Editor's note: The third "Summit for Democracy," initiated by the Biden administration of the U.S., is taking place in Seoul, South Korea between March 18 and 20. As the summit appears to have decreasing influence, a prominent fact is beginning to emerge: The world is losing faith with the kind of "democracy" which is championed by the West. What are the fundamental differences between Chinese and Western democracy? Does Western democracy truly serve the people or succumb to capitalism? Tune in to the second episode of "Global South Voices" and get the answers from Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, chairman of Pakistan's Senate Defense Committee, Fred M'membe, president of the Socialist Party Zambia; Keith Bennett, convener of the Friends of Socialist China and vice chairman of the 48 Group Club; and Einar Tangen, a current affairs commentator. The views expressed in the video belong to the experts interviewed and do not necessarily reflect those of CGTN.
