In the mid-1960s, Dr Phuong helped to deliver hundreds of healthy babies in Vietnam. From 1965, as the U.S. military increased its use of Agent Orange, she started seeing more and more deformed babies. Dr Phuong is adamant that women's exposure to dioxin increases the risk of birth defects, saying that the U.S. is reluctant to accept this connection as this would mean that it could be considered a war criminal.
