A large-scale irrigation project in Jiamakou irrigation area in the suburbs of Yuncheng City, north China's Shanxi Province, has started operating to meet the needs of spring plowing. It diverts water from the nearby Yellow River to irrigate more than 600 square kilometers of farmland in Yongji City, Linyi County and Wanrong County, a major wheat production region in Shanxi.
