Warm spring has brought hundreds of grey herons to the outskirts of Yongji City, north China's Shanxi Province. The spot, on the east side of the Yellow River, is full of trees, making it an ideal place for herons to nest. These birds are monogamous and mostly live in colonies and nest together. Experts say the males often arrive first and start building nests, which they show off to attract females.
