China has made headway in greening efforts, resulting in substantial increases in forest areas and stock volume over the past decade.

Stock volume provides not only information on existing wood resources but also a basis for estimating the amount of carbon contained.

According to the National Forest and Grassland Administration, the country's forest area has expanded from 208 million hectares a decade ago to 231 million hectares.

At the same time, the forest coverage rate has improved from 21.63 percent to 24.02 percent, with the forest growing stock rising from 15.137 billion to 19.493 billion cubic meters. 

China has accounted for about one-quarter of the world's new green spaces in the last two decades, achieving the fastest and largest growth in forest resources worldwide.
