At least five people were killed and 14 others wounded in Russia's overnight air strike on Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement on Friday.

Russia fired more than 60 drones and nearly 90 missiles in an overnight attack on Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a social media post on Friday.

Russia hit Ukraine's largest dam, the DniproHes, in southern Zaporizhzhia region eight times during its massive overnight attack, an official at Ukraine's prosecutors office said.

Russia launched a "massive" wave of air strikes against Ukraine in retaliation for sustained Ukrainian attacks on its border regions between March 16 and 22, the defense ministry said in a statement on Friday.

Russian strikes targeted energy facilities, military-industrial complexes, railway junctions, arsenals in Ukraine and several Ukrainian military units, the statement added.
