The United Nations Security Council rejected a U.S. draft resolution on the Gaza ceasefire on Friday, as China and Russia exercised their vetoes. China says the U.S. draft is ambiguous, suggesting it sets preconditions for a ceasefire, which essentially green-lights continued killing.

"If the U.S. is earnest about achieving a ceasefire, they should not be obfuscating the matters with word games and not be ambiguous on key issues," said Zhang Jun, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, he stressed that "the important thing for the U.S. now is not the words, but actions."
