The offshore installation of Asia's first deepwater jacket, Haiji-2, independently designed and developed by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), started on Sunday in Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province, China Media Group (CMG) reported.
The installation process is expected to last three days and once complete, the jacket will set many Asian records, including operating water depth, height and weight.

Haiji-2, with a height of 338 meters and a weight of 37,000 tonnes, incorporates more than 20,000 tonnes of high-strength steel, making it the first large-scale application of domestically produced high-strength steel in marine engineering.
