World Bank: China's poverty reduction drags down global poverty

China's success in poverty reduction has played a significant role in bringing the global poverty rate down from 44 percent to 9 percent, said Ajay Banga, president of the World Bank Group, at the China Development Forum 2024. He added that China's explosive job growth coincided with its fastest period of poverty reduction in history, proving that creating jobs is the surest way to combat poverty and grow prosperity.
