Installation has begun of China's Haiji-2 deepwater jacket at an oilfield in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. The 338.5-meter tall Haiji-2 will operate at an average depth of 324 meters and weighs nearly 37,000 tonnes, breaking Asian records for structure height, weight and operational depth. Jacket platforms serve as the base that supports offshore oil and gas production platforms above the sea's surface.
