Debate at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Xizang

In Tibetan Buddhism, debate is a unique approach to studying the scriptures. It forms part of the training at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. The debate begins with clapping. Over four hundred years ago, a 17-year-old monk gained huge respect through his debating at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. He was later recognized as the fourth Panchen Lobsang Chokyi Gyaltsen. He made an indelible contribution to Tibetan Buddhism.
