The most comprehensive collection of treasures discovered at Hejia village in the southern suburbs of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, is presently being showcased at a themed exhibition within the Shaanxi History Museum. A significant city positioned at the eastern end of the ancient Silk Road, Xi'an was formerly known as "Chang'an" and served as the capital of the Tang Dynasty (618–907).

Unearthed in 1970 at Hejia village, situated within the "Xinghua Fang" grid of ancient Chang'an city, the esteemed Hejia village hoard comprises two large urns housing over 1,000 splendid gold and silver artifacts, precious gems and minerals, medicinal items, and an extensive coin collection.

Boasting magnificent collections of Silk Road artifacts, the Hejia village hoard illustrates diverse cross-cultural interactions and exchanges. Certain cultural relics within the collection are restricted from being exhibited abroad.

Among the most prized exhibits is a parcel-gilt silver kettle adorned with a dancing-horse motif. The depiction features two horses, each adorned with a ribbon around its neck and its tail elegantly flowing in the air, with both holding a drinking cup in their mouths.

With its delicate imagery being interpreted as a reference to poetry from the era, which vividly described the "dancing horses" performances held at the imperial court, the gold-decorated silver piece evokes a fusion of Chinese cultural elements with an exotic ambiance.
