The container ship that crashed into a major bridge over Baltimore harbor early Tuesday, causing the structure to collapse almost immediately, had suffered a loss of power, Maryland state Governor Wes Moore said.
"We can confirm that the crew notified authorities of a power issue," Moore said. When asked by reporters whether the ship had lost power before smashing into one of the columns supporting the bridge, he replied, "Yes."
U.S. officials said two people were rescued, with one unharmed and the other critically injured. Meanwhile, six people remain missing.
