On May 23, 1951, the Central People's Government and the local government of Xizang signed the "Agreement on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Xizang." Known as the "17-Article Agreement," it marked Xizang's peaceful liberation. This agreement held special significance for Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. It meant that after nearly 30 years, the Panchen Erdeni's seat would welcome its rightful occupant.
