China's largest overseas investment of single-unit electrochemical energy storage project, known as the Uzbekistan Angren District Rochi Energy Storage Project, officially broke ground on Monday, according to China Energy Construction Group.
The first-of-its-kind facility in Uzbekistan represents a major leap forward for the nation's energy infrastructure. Spanning roughly 6 hectares, the project will utilize lithium iron phosphate batteries to provide a 150-megawatt power configuration and a 300-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system.
Upon commercial operation in December 2024, the power station will inject an estimated 2.19 billion kilowatt-hours of regulation capacity, energizing power grid and economic and social development of Uzbekistan.
