Several demand-driven sci-tech innovation projects will be launched this year, said the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China (MEE) at a press conference held on March 27.

To break through technological bottlenecks in pollution control that restrict the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the MEE will take the lead in promoting a series of major projects.

Some of the projects include the comprehensive management of the environment of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the joint survey of environmental preservation and restoration of the Yangtze River, and the joint survey of ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin.

MEE has been organizing a series of major sci-tech projects. Breakthroughs have been made in the management of environmental issues.

The reasons for heavy air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region have been ascertained, which has provided strong support for the country's Air Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan and the Three-Year Action Plan for Winning the Blue Sky Defense Battle.
