Beijing has reiterated its stance on safeguarding its maritime rights and accused Washington of intervening in the issue between China and the Philippines. China's defense ministry has also blamed the U.S. for instigating turmoil in the South China Sea. The ministry also said provocations by the Philippines are the direct cause of recent clashes. China stressed it will not allow the Philippines to act rampantly, and insisted that it has responded in a reasonable manner.
