Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company on Thursday announced at a press conference that it will discharge a total of about 54,600 tonnes of nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean in seven installments in fiscal year 2024.
The first round of discharge, involving 7,750 cubic meters of wastewater, will be carried out between April and May.
